BOOK DESIGN SERVICES

Contrary to the old saying, people DO judge a book by its cover -- and by how it looks inside! Nine times out of ten, "homemade" book designs are glaringly obvious, and less competitive.

Instead, consider working with a professional to design the cover and/or interior of your book, and your Web site.

Below are a just a few designers, who can help you for a fee. A Google search on the phrase "freelance book design" could provide many more. Some of those listed below specialize in interior layouts; others design covers; some do both.

Please read our book "U-Publish" for important factors to discuss with the designer of your choice. It pays to have the book handy as visit the Web sites of designers listed below.

Please note: we never endorse or guarantee products or services, nor do we accept fees for mentioning them. We are happy to provide contacts strictly as a courtesy. Below are just a handful, listed in alphabetical order:

For those on a small budget, here is another option: If you are located near a college or university, you may also want to contact the School of Graphic Design, to inquire about hiring a graduate student.

Quality and pricing of design services vary widely. It pays to compare, get references, and query fellow writers independently. Visit Google Groups and search for writing discussion groups where you can compare notes.

The relationship between an author and a designer is an important one, and we urge you to weigh your choice with care. We also encourage you to keep us posted about what you learn in the process, so we can keep others informed. Leave your feedback on our new blog:
